On the 10th March 2025 the new Statutory Instrument (S.I.) regarding REACH Fees and Charges, amending (EC) No 340/2008 under UK REACH, was laid before parliament. This S.I. significantly changes the fees for submissions under UK REACH. As proposed during the consultation in 2024, fees for registrations submitted under Article 6, 7 or 11 of the UK REACH regulation have been amended such that a UK REACH registration, regardless of tonnage band will cost £2,222. Fees for Medium, Small and Micro enterprises shall be reduced to £740, £399 and £57 respectively, for a UK REACH registration.
The fee associated with a tonnage band upgrade under UK REACH will also be £2,222, however, for a tonnage band upgrade SME fees are increased slightly when compared to the initial registration fees; £1249 for Medium Enterprises, £672 for small enterprises and £96 for Micro.
The new changes to registration fees under UK REACH are generally a significant discount compared with current UK REACH fees (for 10 - 100, 100 - 1000 and > 1000 tpa registrations) however, for registrants who will register a substance at 1 - 10 tpa or as an isolated intermediate, these new fees are an increase on the current fee (current fee is £1,138 for a 1 - 10 tpa registration as part of a joint submission. This will increase to £2,222).
The new S.I. has also amended fees related to other aspects of UK REACH such as those associated with changes in identity of the registrant involving a change in legal personality, PPORD fees and fees for applications for an authorisation.
