Following the recent publication of the Background Document, ECHA has confirmed that it plans to release the SEAC draft opinion in March 2026, with a 60-day public consultation set to begin shortly afterwards. The draft opinion and consultation are expected after the upcoming SEAC meetings scheduled for 2–6 March and 9–13 March 2026. To support stakeholders, ECHA will host an online information session on 30 October 20255.

This marks another key milestone in the U-PFAS restriction process. The consultation, running from March to May 2026, will provide stakeholders with their final opportunity to submit formal comments on the SEAC draft opinion before the dossier is handed over to the European Commission for further consideration.
