DEFRA have initiated a public consultation on extending UK REACH registration deadlines. The consultation, published this morning (14th July 2025), is open until 8th September 2025 – giving industry the opportunity to be heard!
The proposed new UK REACH deadlines under consultation are as follows:
- Option 1: October 2029, October 2030, October 2031 (The Government's preferred option)
- Option 2: April 2029, April 2031, April 2033
- Option 3: April 2029, April 2030, April 2031
The proposed options from DEFRA do not include an earlier extension than April 2029, other than the option to 'do nothing' which is listed in the consultation. The Government recognise that, given ongoing consideration of the ATRm, it would now no longer be possible to deliver legislative changes and implement the ATRm before the current first submission (October 2026).
The inevitable delay of the deadlines means industry will have additional time to understand and act upon the UK REACH data and registration requirements once they have been determined by the UK government.
While these deadlines are currently being reviewed, stakeholders should be investing time to fully understand their substance portfolio and assessing how the changes will impact regulatory compliance strategy under UK REACH.
All stakeholders should get involved and have a their say through the open consultation... https://consult.defra.gov.uk/reach-policy/extending-the-uk-reach-submission-deadlines/?ck_subscriber_id=2396288697
