The European Commission has published its Action Plan for the Chemicals Industry, aiming to further streamline and simplify EU regulations while enhancing the capabilities of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).

A key element of the plan is the Commission’s commitment to minimising PFAS emissions. At the same time, it recognises that certain PFAS may still be needed for critical applications where no viable alternatives currently exist. In such cases, the use of PFAS will be conditional.
We now await the opinions of the Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) and the Socio-Economic Analysis Committee (SEAC) to determine which applications may be permitted and under what conditions.
The Action Plan also highlights EU investment in the development of safer alternatives and remediation solutions.
If you're actively trying to reduce PFAS emissions or have any concerns about PFAS obsolescence, we'd be interested in working with you to develop your PFAS strategy and help you maintain operational continuity. Call or email and speak with one of our PFAS regulatory consultants directly.
