Dr. Kai Paul leads Blue Frog Scientific's nanomaterial activities.  Blue Frog Scientific is an active member in the nanotechnology community. Disseminating knowledge at conferences, workshops and varying stakeholder meetings.  Blue Frog Scientific is committed to ensuring the responsible implementation of new regulatory frameworks and ensuring successful regulatory compliance is achieved through good science and innovation.  Our impact can be seen from our current and previous activities.

Kai is a Consultant within Blue Frog focusing on regulatory affairs and risk assessment of chemicals (REACH), agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicines, and statistics.  Kai works with our Clients to ensure that approaches to nanomaterial registrations and advocacy are based on the most up-to-date assessment practices and advancements of knowledge for these materials.  Nanomaterial safety assessment is an evolving field, with large regulatory movements expected in this area in the coming years.  Kai is working with various groups to develop these movements and can assist with registration strategies to ensure the longevity of your nanomaterial dossier.

Kai is an expert in the toxicity of nanoparticles.  Prior to joining Blue Frog Scientific working on the EU funded NanoTEST project, researching the toxicity and distribution of nanoparticles in a model placental cell line at the Bristol Initiative for Research of Child Health.  Kai’s Ph.D, funded by the US-EPA and NERC, focused on the environmental impact of nanomaterials using the model organism Daphnia magna. The aim of the work is to establish common themes in nanomaterial fate, both biologically and within the environment, and their associated toxicity. The aim of the research was to provide a basis for the development of specific risk assessment procedures for nanoparticles.

Kai's current focus in nanomaterials is optimising regulatory approaches for these novel materials, and developing robust methods for safety assessment.
